It was agreed at the July branch meeting to hold an informal catch-up meeting in August, which will be this Wednesday the 19th August at 7pm on Zoom. GMB Northants were delighted to hear the following feedback from one of our branch members at our July Branch meeting: ‘I was working at a hospital in Northampton when I was attacked by a patient resulting in severe injuries to me. The union I was a member of at the time was of very little help and I had to take up my case with a no win no fee solicitor which is ongoing. I have since joined the GMB which had started recruiting in the workplace. We wish our branch member well and thank them for the feedback and comments.
If you are not already a GMB union member or know of someone who is interested in joining the GMB, find out more and join the GMB union here GMB Northants are delighted to be able to support a local youth football team in Corby and here are the Corby Warriors Vikings Football Club U13's in their new sports kit which has our logo printed on it.
Best of luck to the team from GMB Northants GMB's Care Full Pay campaign is calling for the UK's social care workforce to receive full pay when they're off work due to illness. Most people working in social care will experience a pay cut if unwell and off work. The current rate of Statutory Sick pay is just £95.85 a week and care workers will go a full three days unpaid before receiving this. GMB has had some big wins, with care home providers already agreeing to pay full sick pay for their employees in cases of Covid-19. We don't think this is goes far enough and this campaign has one simple demand - full sick pay for our care workers. Please take 2 minutes to tell us about your experiences : Care Full Pay Survey Link here The June edition of UnionLine News is available to download here This edition reports on some changes taking place to help victims of domestic abuse in courts and an upcoming Government consultation on possible changes to law in the workplace for survivors of domestic abuse. It also reports on the Government’s intention to reintroduce a fee structure for employment tribunals and HMRC furlough audits.
GMB is asking our members in local government and in schools to take part in an online pay ballot.
If you work in local government, in a school, an academy or if your employer follows National Joint Council Green Book pay terms and conditions then you can vote in this ballot. Don't lose your voice in this important vote.
